Structural Development on Change, Leadership and Company Culture
On a structural level, there are countless challenges companies are facing. From communication problems within leadership teams to differences in culture, ethics or values, to high employee churn or growing mental health issues, sometimes it’s the external perspective that’s truly needed to rationally observe, structure and implement effective solutions.
Case study: Leadership Alignment Process
Initial briefing by the CEO of a EU-based Tech Startup expressed a perceived misalignment within the leadership team: different grades of experience, different ways of working and communicating. It was the wish of the CEO to find a way to help the junior leaders learn and develop accordingly, and to bring the whole team closer to each other regarding communication culture and different levels of expertise.
Method:
After the first sessions, we conducted precisely designed interviews with each leadership team member to gather 360 feedback data from everyone involved. We then compiled and sorted the data, which in turn pointed to three distinct problem fields (Communication, Innovation, Personal Development).
We then created three customized workshop-based learning tracks for smaller sub-teams willing to work on these specific areas. After a process of 6 months, we again brought the whole team together to share the results and create the agreements necessary to create new processes based on this work.
Results:
Our data-driven, human-centered approach brought out a refinement in the initial briefing after the interview and data processing step. The first effect of it was on the CEO, who had to acknowledge shortcomings of this initial assessment of the situation. There was an immediate, positive result for the team, in that they were able to safely voice what’s problematic from their side, and also find their input heard and presented to a larger circle. Lastly, the work in the sub-teams proved highly successful in finding new solutions that were created out of a team process, which caused more alignment and shared motivation between all participants.
